Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company has received its annual contribution from the township’s board of supervisors.
Supervisors presented the contribution in the amount of $36,000 to township fire Chief Lynn Diehl at Tuesday’s meeting.
Supervisor Robin Cressley said the fire company deserves the contribution for the fine work they do.
“It’s definitely money well spent,” Cressley said. “They do a fantastic job.”
After the meeting, Diehl said the money would eventually be used toward the fire company’s emergency vehicles.
More specifically, he said it would go toward the replacement of trucks.
“They always go toward the truck fund,” Diehl said. “It’s only for trucks.”
Diehl said the fire company is in the process of starting up a truck committee because the department needs to replace a 1990 truck.
“We appreciate anything we get,” he said. “We’re estimating a truck to be anywhere between $600,000 to $700,000.”
