Woman charged with leading police on high-speed chase
A Schuylkill County woman has been charged with leading police on a high-speed chase.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Ryan Poeldnurk of the Jim Thorpe Police Department details the case against Brittany Hinkle, 25, of McAdoo.
At 3:43 p.m. June 4, Poeldnurk was monitoring traffic near the bridge on Route 903 when he saw a white Dodge Dakota pickup with a registration that was supposed to be displayed on a 1995 Eagle Talon.
Poeldnurk got behind the truck on West Second Street and saw it didn’t come to a complete stop at the stop sign. Poeldnurk then followed the vehicle across the bridge on Route 903 and activated his emergency lights at the intersection of 903 and Route 209.
The truck continued to ignore his lights and sirens and went faster as it traveled toward Nesquehoning.
The vehicle continued to pass numerous vehicles in no-passing zones and turn toward the Broad Mountain.
Poeldnurk stopped following the vehicle and notified the Communications Center to inform the further police departments in the county.
The Weatherly Police Department also attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle did not stop.
Through the course of the investigation, the driver was identified as Hinkle.
She was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude officer; reckless driving; illegal turn; pass when prohibited; driving at safe speed; careless driving; driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked; display plate card in improper vehicle and other offenses.
She is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 monetary bail, and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Eric M. Schrantz of Jim Thorpe.
