Lansford questioned on executive sessions

Lansford borough council deliberated a variety of issues at the town meeting this past Wednesday evening.

After previously serving as council member for 22 years, meeting attendee RoseMary Cannon questioned the necessity of holding executive sessions prior to every meeting.

Directing her question to the board, she asked, “Why is this something you choose to do?”

In response, Cannon was told by the board that they prefer to hold their meetings beginning in this fashion to discuss personnel problems.

Cannon said that she’s been receiving accusations within the community that she mishandled money supposedly received for an insurance claim made for the repairs to the town gazebo due to extensive hail damage in the past.

Cannon said the gazebo wasn’t listed as covered by the borough’s insurance policy, and therefore, never received funds to repair it. This information was duly noted by the board.
