Cyclist injured in Monroe crash

A motorcyclist was injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 11:30 a.m. on May 30 along Upper Smith Gap Road in Ross Township, Monroe County.

State police at Lehighton said Christopher S. Rauch, 51, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2008 Harley-Davidson cycle westbound at a high rate of speed and going around a curve when he sideswiped a 2008 Chevrolet HHR driven eastbound by Tina M. Stametz, 55, of Saylorsburg.

Rauch suffered serious injuries and was transported by West End Ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono, East Stroudsburg. Stametz was not injured. The bike was towed.

Troopers cited Rauch for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
