Area senators’ expenses detailed in records released

Pennsylvania taxpayers paid close to $160,000 in expenses for the offices of four Times News area senators in the two-year period that ended with the last commonwealth’s fiscal year last June 30, according to records of invoices obtained and released recently by the Associated Press.

Among the more than 6,000 pages of invoices are detailed expenses for all of the state’s 50 senators, including senators David Argall, Patrick Browne, Mario Scavello and John Yudichak.

Bills paid for by the commonwealth for the four senators in the categories of transportation, travel, repairs, supplies, services, education and fixed assets total $159,968.06.

They do not include staff members’ salaries and benefits, nor lease payments for the lawmakers’ offices.

Argall represents the 29th senatorial District, which includes all of Schuylkill County and parts of Berks County.

Browne represents the 16th District, which includes parts of Lehigh County, including Lynn, Heidelberg, Weisenberg, Washington and Lowhill townships and Slatington.
