The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Paul Taylor, age 53, of Shenandoah, a former correctional officer at the Federal Correctional Institute Schuylkill was charged Tuesday with bribery and corruption.
According to United States Attorney David J. Freed, the criminal information charges says that between 2011 and 2016, Taylor smuggled tobacco into FCI Schuylkill while employed as a correctional officer, and provided the contraband to prisoners in exchange for money.
The investigation was conducted by special agents of the Department of Justice Office of Inspector General and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd K. Hinkley.
The maximum penalty under federal law for this offense is 15 years of imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine.
