3-year-old struck, killed in Lansford

The Schuylkill County Coroner’s office released the identity Wednesday morning of the 3-year-old girl killed Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle in Lansford.

Deputy Coroner Albert “Bud” Barnes said the girl was identified as Vanna Creveling, with the cause of death pending an investigation. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning.

Lansford police chief Jack Soberick said the incident occurred just after 6:30 p.m. in the 500 block of East Bertsch Street.

The child was in the street, Soberick said. A driver, a man in his 20s, was approaching from the east side and didn’t see the girl and hit her, Soberick said. Police are reviewing video footage from the scene.

The girl’s father was washing his car and saw the incident. He drove her to St. Luke’s Miners Campus in Coaldale, where she died as a result of injuries.
