Carbon woman enters guilty pleas in three pending cases

A Carbon County woman entered guilty pleas in three pending criminal cases on Monday in the county court and was told she faces a prison term at the time of sentencing.

Stacy Kilpatrick, 34, of Jim Thorpe, appeared before Judge Steven R. Serfass to plead to one count each of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance - heroin, possession of a controlled substance and flight to avoid apprehension.

She was arrested on the PWID charge on Sept. 11, 2019, by state police at Fern Ridge following a traffic stop in Penn Forest Township. Kilpatrick was a passenger in the vehicle and was found with 114 baggies of heroin. The other drug arrest occurred on Oct. 2, 2019, also following a traffic stop by state police at Fern Ridge. She was a passenger in the vehicle and found with methamphetamine. The flight to avoid apprehension occurred on Dec. 13, 2019, filed by state police at Fern Ridge. Troopers went to a residence in Penn Forest Township to serve a warrant. She fled the home on foot but was located a short time later and taken into custody.

Serfass told Kilpatrick, under state sentencing guidelines, in the standard range, she faces a minimum prison term of somewhere between nine and 16 months up to a maximum of 180 months. In a plea deal the DA is recommending a county sentence, but the final decision on where she serves the prison sentence is up to Serfass.

Sentencing was deferred with the adult probation office ordered to prepare a presentence investigation report.
