Titus headed to Shippensburg

Tamaqua’s Emily Titus will continue her academic and athletic careers at Shippensburg University.

The senior will be a member of the Red Raiders’ track and field team. Titus, the daughter of Ed and Tina Titus, was a three-sport athlete at Tamaqua, excelling at soccer, basketball, and track and field.

In basketball this past season, she reached the coveted 1,000-point plateau and was named to the Times News Girls Basketball Second Team All-Star squad.

Last track season, Titus won the gold medal in the shot put and the silver in the javelin at districts, and finished 16th in the shot at states.

She was also named to the Schuylkill League’s Second Team in soccer as a defender.

In addition to her athletic achievements, Titus is involved in National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Language National Honor Society, Physics Club, Biology Club, World Language Club, Step up Club, and is a varsity football manager.

The future exercise science major was also the school’s Walter Ligenza Memorial Scholarship Award winner.
