Electronics recycling fundraiser planned

An electronics recycling event fundraiser for Carbon County Friends of Animals will be held for all Carbon County residents from 9-11 a.m. on June 13 at St. John’s UCC, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton.

This is a no-contact fundraiser, meaning residents must stay in their car.

Participants are asked to provide a donation for the shelter from each car, whether it be monetary, or cat litter, cans of wet cat food, dish soap, HE laundry detergent, paper towels, cleaning products or Purina cat or kitten chow to participate.

The event, held by Responsible Recycling Services, will accept the following electronics for free: desktop and laptop computers, keyboards and mice, printers and fax machines, cables and cords, cellphone and laptop batteries, calculators and adding machines, UPS battery backups, toner and ink cartridges, audio visual equipment, telephones and cellphones with batteries removed, DVD players and VCRs, gaming systems, string Christmas lights, microwaves and small appliances, metal items and water heaters, exercise equipment, car batteries, bed frames, rain spouting and filing cabinets.

Other items can be recycled for a fee.

They include washers and dryers, dishwashers, range stoves, floor copiers and water coolers for $20; CRT tube type monitors for $15; air conditioners and humidifiers for $25; LCD monitors, $12; televisions under 42 inches, $35 and in wooden cabinets, projection and over 42 inches, $55; TV tube only, $55; refrigerators and floor freezers, $30; console stereos in cabinet, $35; tires, $7; and 1-gallon can of paint, $5.
