Lest we forget

When the American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill visited cemeteries and memorials on Memorial Day in an abbreviated version of its traditional services, Post 316 Chaplain Gregory Miller read the Roll Call of servicemen who passed away since Memorial Day 2019.

Those remembered included: John Kast, Leon Eckhart, Michael Melley, Joseph Hager, John Yellen, Alexander “Butchie” Kane, James “Butch” Ferrari, Howard Billig, Howard Morana, William Maynard, Joseph Filip and Thomas McCullian.

Summer lunch program

Meed’s Memorial United Methodist Church in Nesquehoning will begin its Children’s Free Summer Lunch Program on June 8.

Lunches will be takeout online and available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday from the lower level of the church.

The program will run until a school starting date has been determined.
