Mahoning Township extends tax deadline

Mahoning Township last week became yet another municipality to alter its 2020 tax deadline.

The board of supervisors of Mahoning Township agreed at their meeting last Wednesday to push the penalty date for real estate, per capita, street and hydrant taxes payments to Nov. 1. Residents won’t face late fees if they pay those taxes in full by that date.

Borough council in Palmerton approved a similar measure last Thursday, pushing the borough real estate and per capita tax deadlines to Nov. 1, without penalty. Jim Thorpe moved the deadline for base real estate, occupational and per capita taxes to Oct. 31.

Bowmanstown also extended the discount period for borough taxes earlier this month to Aug. 31.
