In Whitestone, there are 22 cases, 11 staff who tested positive, and five deaths.
At Grace Park in Stroudsburg, there are 16 cases, with six staff testing positive, and five deaths.
State Sen. John Yudichak, I-Carbon/Luzerne, has been pushing for the state to look at the nursing home issue.
“Officials from the Department of Health have told us that their decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic are data driven, but for 10 weeks the Department has largely ignored the alarming data from Pennsylvania nursing homes, like Weatherwood Healthcare and Rehab Center, that now account for two-thirds of COVID-19 related deaths in the state,” Yudichak said.
“Working with local organizations, like the AllOne Foundation, the Earth Conservancy, the Luzerne Foundation, and the Carbon County Community Foundation, we established the NEPA Nursing Home SOS program, with over $500,000 in private donations to get much needed personal protection equipment and other COVID-19 resources to where the data demonstrates is the true epicenter of the pandemic - our nursing homes.”
