Saturday is Carbon County Strong Day.

On Thursday, the county commissioners officially adopted a proclamation naming Saturday as a day to support small businesses, local communities and a start to a return to normalcy in the midst of a pandemic.

Commissioners’ Chairman Wayne Nothstein read the proclamation, which states, “Small-business owners have a passion for what they do and when we support business, jobs are created and local communities preserve their unique culture.”

The initiative is a partnership with the Carbon Chamber and Economic Development Corporation, as well as the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and hopes to bring support to the small businesses which have suffered so much as a result of being closed for two months.

The county encourages all residents to celebrate local small businesses and patronize them as they begin to reopen and rebuild Carbon County’s economy.
