Police release details in Washington Twp. man’s death

State police at the Bethlehem barracks have released details of a fatal motorcycle crash in North Whitehall Township Thursday night.

Jesse Jones, 36, of Washington Township was pronounced dead at 10:40 p.m. at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.

Police said the crash happened at 9:02 when the cycle crashed in front of a home at 3739 Park Ave. in the township. They said Jones was traveling south on Park Avenue, coming across from Route 873 and traveling at a speed greater than conditions permitted when the cycle approached a sharp right curve in the roadway.

Police said Jones lost control, causing the cycle to flip onto its side.

Police said the cycle and driver traveled about 72 feet into the front yard of the residence, before the vehicle and operator hit bridge edging on the front of the house.

The Northern Valley EMS corps members transported the victim to the hospital. Police were assisted at the scene by the Neffs Fire Department and Fire Police.
