A proposal for a re-roofing project at the Franklin Township Fire Department has come in higher than anticipated.
Supervisors unanimously agreed on Tuesday to table the sole bid of $212,500 it received for the project.
Township fire Chief Lynn Diehl said the fire department previously received an estimate of $187,000 to do the work.
Diehl said the fire company has a $150,000 LSA grant in its possession.
He said after the meeting that in addition to the roof, other work has been discussed for the building.
Diehl said there are moisture issues inside the building, and that work would be done to the walls, the interior, and new garage doors for the firetrucks.
He said the anticipated cost for everything is about $300,000, adding that the department would have to put up at least $50,000 from its savings, and then loan at least another $100,000.
“We added some stuff in,” Diehl said. “We’re going to have to see if we can afford this or not.”
