Schuylkill Commissioners contract with CDBG consulting firm

During a workshop meeting Wednesday, the Schuylkill County Commissioners signed a $283,800 three-year contract with Mullin and Lonergan, Pittsburgh, a firm that provides consulting services regarding federal entitlement funding. The contract amount covers all three years, according to County Grant Writer Ron Zimmerman.

M&L provides professional technical consulting services to communities that receive federal entitlement funding from HUD in the form of Community Development Block Grants, Home Investment Partnerships, Emergency Solutions Grant and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS.

The contract will cover certain services and technical advice for the county as well as those communities that the county oversees for such programs. Those communities are Butler Township, Mahanoy City, Minersville, Pine Grove, Pine Grove Township, Schuylkill Haven, Shenandoah, Tamaqua, Wayne Township and West Penn Township.

As the board did last week, the commissioners held their meeting via teleconference. Any member of the public can access the meetings, which are held at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays. To listen in on the meeting, dial 570-624-3971 at the start time.

To view the agenda for the meeting, go to www.co.schuylkill.pa.us. Under the General Information tab, to the Meetings. The agendas for the meetings are listed by date on the upper left side.

A Tax Claim Judicial Sale scheduled for April 21 has been postponed, and not yet rescheduled. The Retirement Board will meet April 8, immediately following the meetings for the commissioners and the Salary Board.
