A look back: March 28, 1967

The Borough of Coaldale, in compliance with regulations of the Federal Housing Administration, is in the process of enforcing the Housing Code.

The community’s building inspector, John Davis, who is doing the work on a voluntary basis, is authorized under the code to enter the premises and be granted free access to properties of residents. The visit will include an inspection of the entire building, both external and internal. Refusal of admittance will result in a $100 fine or 90 days in jail under the rules of the federal government.

It has been pointed out Coaldale is the only community in the immediate area with a Housing Code, and one of only three towns in Schuylkill County to have such a rule.
