Schuylkill driver facing DUI, weapon charges

A Schuylkill County driver is facing charges following a crash that was reported at 5:06 a.m. on March 23 along Route 209 in Blythe Township.

State police at Frackville said Jacob T. Baddick, 27, of New Philadelphia, was driving a 1997 Oldsmobile Regency southbound when the vehicle drifted over the double yellow line into the northbound lane. The vehicle continued over the fog line off the east side of the road where it struck a wall and wooden fence. The Oldsmobile then struck a legally parked 2016 Dodge Ram truck. After impact the Oldsmobile spun counterclockwise and came to rest facing east in the northbound lane.

Baddick was evaluated at the scene by emergency responders but refused to be transported to a hospital for further evaluation. Baddick showed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Troopers also said Baddick was found in possession of a controlled substance and a loaded firearm without having a valid permit to carry the weapon.

A charge of DUI is pending test results. He also faces a drug count and firearms charge.
