Man charged with making gun threats

A Tamaqua man is facing charges after police said he threatened to shoot someone in the knee.

William Harold Ladlee, 39, of Tamaqua, is facing multiple charges for an incident on Feb. 22.

Police said officers were dispatched to 128 Schuylkill Ave., for a report of a armed suspect attempting to gain access to the residence.

On scene officers encountered Ladlee, who was detained and searched. Found in his right pocket was an orange flare gun that had been modified to hold and fire a .22-caliber round. Once the flare gun was opened there was a live .22-caliber round in the chamber. Ladlee was handcuffed and placed in the police cruiser. He had 18 additional .22-caliber rounds.

The male victim reported Ladlee came to his residence and showed him the flare gun through the screen door. The victim was able to see the live round in the gun. Ladlee pointed the gun at the victim several times while smiling, the victim said.

After receiving his Miranda rights, Ladlee told officers, “I was gonna knee cap him.” When asked what that meant, Ladlee said he was going to shoot the victim in the knee.

Ladlee was charged with aggravated and simple assault, person not to possess a firearm, crime committed with a firearm, firearms not to be carried without a license, possessing an instrument of crime and terroristic threats. He was arraigned by on-call District Judge James Reily of Pottsville and committed to the county prison after failing to post $25,000 straight cash bail.
