The art league will also host its meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Seventh Moon Wellness Spa, 701 Bridge St., Suite b103, Lehighton. The topic will be about the Folk Art Alliance in Schuylkill Haven.

At the meeting, the group will discuss folk art and the alliance’s operations.

Folk arts are expressions of collective community identity that have proven their value in sustaining communities throughout decades. They are shaped within families, neighborhoods, and communities, being passed down from one generation to the next.

The Folk Art Alliance at the Walk in Art Center in Schuylkill Haven is an alliance of artists and community stakeholders who work together to document, celebrate, and pass on the folk arts of Schuylkill, Berks and Carbon counties.

In this presentation, Program Director Jenna Winton will discuss how the alliance supports folk and traditional arts and why it is so important to our communities.

Members and visitors to the meeting may also bring some folk art to share with the group.
