Quilt Guild

The Sew What Quilt Guild will meet at the Palmerton Area Library at 7 p.m. on March 12. New members and visitors are always welcome. Please use side door.

Third Monday Book Club

The Third Monday Book Club will meet from noon to 1:30 p.m. on March 16 at the Palmerton Area Library. The club discusses a different book each month. The March book is “The Indigo Girl” by Natasha Boyd. Call the library at 610-826-3424 for more information.

Longwood Gardens

Friends of the Palmerton Area Library are planning a bus trip to Longwood Gardens on April 25. Please call the library at 610-826-3424 for details.

Blood drive

A community blood drive will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. For information, call Alice Wanamaker at 484-274-2080.

Class of 1970

Palmerton Area High School Class of 1970 will hold their 50th reunion on May 2 at the Blue Mountain Resort, Palmerton. A class photo will be taken. Classmates are reminded to return their responses by April 1.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, will hold worship services on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. This is a special service of children involvement. Holy Communion will be served.

Lenten Service will be held at St. Matthew’s at 7 p.m. March 11. Weeks are being alternated between Holy Trinity and St. Matthew’s.

The Thrift Store is open Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to noon and Wednesdays from noon to 3:30 p.m.

Bible studies are Mondays from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at St. Matthew’s and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Holy Trinity in the Adult Education Room.

Block shoot

A block shoot will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton. This is open to the public and is smoke-free. Food and drinks are included with ticket purchase.

Lenten service

Five area churches join together each year for Wednesday evening Lenten services. St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ, Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and Salem United Church of Christ Gilbert will hold a joint Lenten Service on March 11 at Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Trachsville. The preacher will be the Rev. John Harding. Continuing with this year’s theme of “Signs of Lent,” the topic will be “Merge.”

A simple soup supper will be held from 6-6:45 p.m. Worship service begins at 7 p.m. Choir rehearsal will be at 6:30 p.m. Choir members from all churches are invited to attend rehearsal and sing each week.

Borough council

The Palmerton Borough Council will hold meetings during March on March 12 and 26. Meetings are at 7 p.m. in Borough Hall Council Chambers, 443 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.

Free community meal

A free community meal will be served from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. Come enjoy a free meal and fellowship.

Gaming Grotto

Gaming Grotto is open to the public and is hosted by Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 N. Third Street, Palmerton. The event is held the first and third Friday of each month. For the month of March the dates will be March 6 and 20 from 7 to 11 p.m. This is a free gaming lounge where people can build relationships through the gaming culture. Have gaming systems of all kings and board games. Refreshments available for a small fee.

Faith Alive

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St. holds Sunday contemporary worship at 8:30 a.m. and traditional worship at 10:45 a.m. with Pastor Rob Timlin

Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. with classes for all ages

Youth group will meet March 8 and 29 at 6 p.m. They will join Blue Mountain Church on March 15 at 6:30 p.m. for Neon Night and participate in World Vision 30 hour famine on March 20 and 21

Women’s Stretch Class: Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Homebound Ministry: Visiting shut-ins March 18

Prayer Shawl Ministry: March 19 at 2 p.m.

Ladies Faithful Believers: March 9 at 9 a.m.

Adult Bible study: March 12 and 26 at 2 p.m.

New for Lent: Congregationwide six-week Bible Study with small groups. Rick Warren’s, “Time to Dream” starting March 1, Sunday 9:45 a.m., Tuesday 6 p.m. and Wednesday 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. All encouraged to join a group.

Clothing drive: Used adult clothing and shoes being collected for the Gathering Place Mission in Weissport.

Fellowship Fun Night — Soup Social: March 28, 6 p.m. Bring your favorite soup to share. All welcome but please sign up.
