EMMAUS — It was all about threes on Saturday at the District 11 Diving Championships.

Three different student-athletes completed their trifecta of individual titles with their third straight stellar showings at the event.

Parkland’s Lexi Lehman, Saucon Valley’s Noah Mauro and Emmaus’ Brendan McCourt all nabbed their third championship of their careers. Meanwhile, Tamaqua’s Ashley Jones represented the area with a third place in the District 11 2A girls’ event.

Jones, a sophomore, improved upon her finish from a season ago, where she took seventh as a freshman. Her score of 263.80 on Saturday was a huge improvement over her 2019 score of 210.35.

Jones, a former gymnast, used her skillful body control and aerial maneuvers to outperform the majority of the 2A field. However, it was Moravian Academy’s Alexa Fegley who ultimately captured the 2A gold medal with a score of 332.9. Bethlehem Catholic’s Anna Petke edged Jones for second place with 305.75.

Jones made her return to the district competition after an absence of a Blue Raider in the competition for two years, but with back-to-back showings is making a name for herself. It also was a performance that was of note to the sophomore splash, as she bested a pair of Schuylkill League rivals from Pottsville. After a second-place finish this season at the Schuylkill League Diving Championships, where she finished in between the Tide’s tandem of Greta Snukis and Emma Smith, Jones eclipsed the both of them for the third place finish overall.

Snukis took fourth, while Smith was sixth.
