A look back: Feb. 24, 1961

Tommy Brown of Aquashicola, an 11th-grade pupil of the Palmerton Area High School, yesterday afternoon bowled with his high school classmates at the Hungarian bowling alleys, Palmerton, rolling 10 straight strikes to finish with a 286 score for the day.

The high school bowling program of Palmerton is supervised by Oscar Blynn, a member of the high school faculty who oversees the students bowling at the alleys every Thursday afternoon.

The program was instituted in Palmerton 21 years ago and Brown’s score is the highest ever to be recorded there by any high school student.
