A look back: Feb. 21, 1990

Work will continue on the renovations of turning the former Summit Hill High School into a 24-unit apartment building.

Owner Randy Jakubowski has announced the interior of the 25,000-square-foot building has been gutted to prepare it for 24 two-bedroom apartments. The $500,000 project will make the unfurnished apartments completely modern with electric heat and washer and dryer hookups.

Jakubowski, of Bayonne, New Jersey, purchased the building from Panther Valley Industries corporation. It is the former home of garment industries, such as MJL Inc., Summit Sportswear and J Fashions.

The building served as the high school for the students of the hilltop community from 1906-63.
