Primitive Methodist

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday in Zion Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:15 a.m.

The community Ash Wednesday service will be held at Christ Church in McKeansburg on Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. The guild will meet in the social hall on May 5 at 6:30 p.m.

Calvary Lewistown

The Rev. Ralph Saunders will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes are held sat 9:15 a.m. Evening praise and Bible study at 6:30 p.m.

Beginning Feb. 26, Calvary will be participating in the Lenten Services of the New Ringgold Ministerium each Wednesday through Easter. The Ash Wednesday service will be at Christ Church, McKeansburg, at 7 p.m.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Feb. 13 at the Tamaqua YMCA with 51 members in attendance. The vice president opened the meeting with the reading “Where There Is Love.”

Doris Yeager, Rose Vallee and Jayne McLaughlin were added to the sick list. New members Nancy Godenis and Roberta Hollenbach, along with returning members Sandy Scott and Larry Bower, were all given a warm welcome along with guest David Houser. Each member received a heart-shaped box of chocolates, and Jean Machamer donated ice cream sandwiches.

The group is open to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the YMCA. The next meeting will be Feb. 20.

Bethany EC

The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday Life Groups meet at 9:30 a.m. Ministry Council meets at noon.

Zion Lutheran

Zion Lutheran’s Culinary Crew’s annual pork and sauerkraut dinner is planned for Tuesday, from 4-6 p.m. or sellout.

The dinner includes pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, apple sauce, beverage and dessert. Takeouts are available.

Zion Lutheran is located at the corner of Mauch Chunk and Greenwood streets.
