Henderson attends course on rural communities

Kathy Henderson, director of economic development for The Carbon Chamber & Economic Development Corp., attended the Balancing Nature and Commerce in Rural Communities and Landscapes course at the National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, as a member of the Kittatinny Ridge Team.

The National Conservation Training Center is the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Training Center. Applications to attend the course were received from teams across the United States.

The selection process was based on the important issues that were expressed in each team’s application.

Classes included Gateway Communities; Trends Tools and Sustainable Tourism, Case Studies on Economic Resiliency in Rural Communities and Economics of Rural Asset-Based Communities.

Henderson is excited to bring back new ideas and best practices to Carbon County.
