Blue Mountain to host federation alpine ski races

The first Ski Federation alpine ski races in Pennsylvania will occur at Blue Mountain Resort on Monday and Tuesday.

The International Ski Federation is the world’s highest governing body for international winter sports.

There are two giant slalom races calendared for Blue Mountain. GiansSlalom is an event that requires the most technical skill requiring competitors to race down the mountain through a faster, more open course than slalom.

Each day competition will be run on Razor’s Edge, which has been recently certified by FIS. The course on Razor’s edge has a 260-meter vertical drop and is 1,900 meters in length.

Nearly 200 races from the New England and mid-Atlantic region of the United States have been selected to compete in this race.

North American and European athletes will be in attendance.
