Lansford police investigating robbery, stabbing

Lansford Police said a strong arm robbery and stabbing occurred in the borough Monday night.

At about 9:30 p.m. police responded to several almost simultaneous incidents last night, including a reported strong arm robbery, a fight with multiple people (in the area of Cortright and Abbott streets) and a stabbing victim several blocks away.

Because of the serious nature of these incidents, the emergency response plan for the department was activated and extra officers were recalled, including the chief, sergeant and detective.

Police said the resulting investigation found that all of the incidents were related and the participants in each incident were known to each other.

The stabbing was not a random act, police said. It was directly related to this incident and there is no related threat to the general public.

The stabbing victim is a young adult man, who was treated at the scene by the Lehighton Ambulance/ALS and transported to Lehigh Valley-Cedar Crest Trauma Center. He is stable and expected to recover.

Police said all participants have been identified. The knife used was recovered and seized as evidence.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
