Carbon man jailed after drug buys; bail set at $500K

A Lansford man is being held on a $500,000 bail following multiple controlled drug purchases coordinated by agents from the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General.

Lewis Gregg faces a long list of drug related charges — including multiple counts of possession with intent to deliver or manufacture a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility and unlawful acts — after being charged with selling methamphetamine to a confidential informant on four separate occasions.

The 52-year-old is currently being held in Carbon County Prison.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General:

A confidential informant working with agents contacted Gregg by phone to set up the purchases, which took place in January and February.

The informant turned over about half a gram of what agents suspected was meth after every meeting, telling authorities the drugs were purchased from Gregg.

The substances surrendered tested positive for meth.

On Friday, following four controlled purchases, Lansford Police assisted the state agents in executing a search and seizure warrant on a residence in the 300 block of W. Patterson St. in Lansford.

Gregg was apprehended and a gun, smoking pipe and some prescription medicines were among items seized as a result of the bust.

Gregg was arraigned Friday. His preliminary hearing, set to take place before Magisterial District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek, is scheduled for Feb. 19.
