Advanced programs in the Spanish and musical departments of Lehighton area schools were the subjects of a lengthy discussion last evening during the meeting of the Lehighton Area Union School District board of directors.

Superintendent Howard Michener advised board members interest in the intramural music program in the elementary schools has increased during the past several years. In addition, the vocal departments are likewise growing.

Spanish is also a subject in the schools, which is being accepted by a large number of pupils both in the elementary and junior high schools. The board authorized Michener to secure the services of another teacher in Spanish for the 1966-67 school year.
