State police at Lehighton reported investigating a one-vehicle crash at 7:52 p.m. on Jan. 26 along Forest Inn Road in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said Matthew A. Mohring, 24, of Northampton, was operating a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer southbound when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree in an embankment.

Mohring was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by rescue personnel. He was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, with serious injuries, troopers said.

The vehicle was towed. Troopers noted there were two passengers in the vehicle, who they declined to identify.
