The Carbon County Commissioners at their weekly meeting passed a resolution to form a Carbon County Airport Authority.

Appointed to the newly formed board were Jacob Arner, Lehighton, five-year term; John Rhodes, Lehighton R.3, four years; Ira Scheib, Palmerton, three years; George H. Bright, Lehighton, two years; and John Williamson, Weatherly R.1, one year.

Attorney John P. Lavelle of Weissport will be the solicitor for the authority, which will oversee the construction of a municipal airport in Carbon County. He said several sites are being considered for the airport, which is expected to cost $275,000, with a site in the Mahoning Valley being considered as the most feasible location for the project.
