Gregory Tirpak won the Northeast District championship of the Elks Hoop Shoot on Feb. 2 in Bloomsburg. Competing in the boys 10-11 year-old division, Tirpak made 18 out of 25 free throws. The win qualifies Tirpak for the State Championships in March in State College. Tirpak is 10 years old and is a fourth grade student at Tamaqua Elementary School, He is the son of Jessica and Gregg Tirpak. This is the second time that Tirpak has won a Northeast District title and advanced to the State Championship
