Walnutport has agreed to purchase a new vehicle for its police department.

Borough council at its workshop on Thursday unanimously agreed to order a 2020 Ford Explorer from Kovatch Ford.

Borough police Chief Pete Wayda said the vehicle would replace a Crown Victoria that went down several months ago.

“We’ve been managing with three now for the last couple of months,” Wayda said.

Wayda noted that even with council’s action to buy the vehicle, the police department likely won’t take possession of it until September or October.
