State police at Lehighton investigate crashes

State police at Lehighton reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers.

A one-vehicle crash occurred about 10:06 p.m. on Jan. 22 along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Lucinda A. Space, 58, of Albrightsville, was operating a 2016 Subaru Forester northbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. Space could not stop in time with the front of her vehicle hitting the deer. Space was not injured. The Forester had to be towed.

A one-vehicle crash was reported at 7:51 p.m. on Saturday along Dorshimer Road in Polk Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Julia Jaczuk McLaughlin, 18, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country eastbound and approaching a slight curve in the road. Troopers said McLaughlin was traveling too fast for conditions and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle spun 360 degrees and went onto the berm where it crashed into a barn.

McLaughlin was not injured, but the vehicle had to be towed.

She was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
