Two Schuylkill prison guards resign

During a meeting Wednesday, the Schuylkill County Commissioners approved the resignations of county prison corrections officers Jennifer Crisafulli, of Minersville, effective Feb. 6, and Jeffery Moyer, of Pottsville, effective Feb. 3.

Two weeks ago, the Schuylkill County Prison Board fired full-time corrections officer Patricia Pancerella. Officials did not comment on the termination, or the resignations. Pancerella was hired as part-time in 2018 and promoted to full-time in July 2019, at a salary of $22.34 per hour. During the same meeting, part-time corrections officer Courtney Frye was promoted to full-time status.

When at full staff, the county prison has 45 full-time officers and 15 part-time officers; currently there are openings for 2 full-time and 10 part-time officers. During 2019, one part-time and two full-time corrections officers were fired.

In other action:

Ronald Sverchek, Pottsville, will retire effective Feb. 7 as Chief Investigator, public defender’s office.

Kimberly Blum, Pottsville, will transfer from Aging Case Aide II to Human Services Block Grants Case Aide II, volunteer program, at a rate of $14.84 per hour.
