State police investigate crashes

State police at Lehighton reported on crashes investigated by troopers recently.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 10:43 a.m. on Jan. 13 along Centre Street in Parryville, Carbon County. Joncarlos Niva, 21, of Easton, was driving a 2010 Nissan 370Z when he failed to negotiate a right turn. His vehicle went off the road and crashed into a utility pole.

Niva had a minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention. He was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.

• Another one-vehicle crash was reported on Jan. 16 along West Bowmans Road in East Penn Township, Carbon County. James E. Blair, 33, of Lehighton, was driving a 1996 Buick westbound when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree. Blair refused medical treatment and the vehicle was towed.

Troopers cited Blair for driving under the influence of alcohol.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:55 a.m. on Tuesday along Kunkletown Road in Eldred Township, Monroe County. Tatium R. Cougle, 19, of Germansville, Lehigh County, was driving a 2016 Ford Focus when she failed to negotiate a right curve. The car left the road and struck a tree.

Cougle was not injured. She was cited for the crash.

• A second one-vehicle crash was reported at 1:09 p.m. on Wednesday along Hideaway Hill Road in Polk Township, Monroe County. Craig J. Fussell, 26, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2006 Scion TC northbound and attempted to negotiate a curve. Fussell lost control of the vehicle and it struck an embankment and tree. The vehicle came to final rest blocking the northbound lane.

Fussell, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained minor head and facial injuries and was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono in East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance. The Scion was towed.

Fussell was cited for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
