Local Roundup: Results from Jan. 25

The Pleasant Valley girls rallied for a non-league win over Moravian Academy Saturday, while Lehighton posted a league victory over Panther Valley.

In other action, the Weatherly boys defeated Pen Argyl.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Moravian-Pleasant Valley

Madison O’Neil scored 11 of her 14 points in overtime to help Pleasant Valley gain a 69-57 non-league win over Moravian Academy.

The Bears (12-6) received a game-high 20 points from Cameron Caffrey, while Riley Wagner added 15. PV, which outscored the Lions 28-12 during the fourth quarter and OT, also gained 10 points from Alyssa Wagner.

Marina Falzone and Maya Ettle both had 19 points for Moravian (13-5).

Lehighton-Panther Valley

Hailey Miller tallied a team-high 14 points to help Lehighton post a 57-43 Schuylkill League victory over Panther Valley.

The Indians (8-10; 4-6), who built a 13-point halftime lead, also received 10 points from Ashley Marchessault

Erika Dubosky had a game-high 16 points for the Panthers (4-13; 0-10), while Sera Robin finished with 14.

North Schuylkill-Tamaqua

A big second half propelled North Schuylkill to an important 75-71 Schuylkill League victory over Tamaqua.

Savannah Gawrylik and Kamryn Mengel both scored 15 points for the Spartans (12-4; 9-1), who trailed by eight points at halftime.

The Blue Raiders (12-4; 6-4) were led by Emma Kuczynski, who finished with a season-high 36 points. Sophia Boyle tallied 12 points, while Emily Titus added 11.

In the JV game, Tamaqua earned a 55-44 win behind Trenyce Wingler’s 22 points. Serena Jones added 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Weatherly-Pen Argyl

Antonio Colecio scored a game-high 22 points to lead Weatherly to a 53-46 non-league victory over Pen Argyl.

The Wreckers (8-8) trailed by 10 points after the first quarter but outscored their opponent in the remaining three periods to earn the win.

Scotty Zoscin contributed 11 points to the victory, while Matt Raggozino led the Knights (2-16) with 15 points.
