An early morning fire destroyed a home in Tamaqua. Crews were called to the scene on Gay Street,which is very narrow. One of a double block dwelling was destroyed and the other heavily damaged.

Neighbors reported they believe the fire may have started in the attic area. According to reports from the scene everyone made it out of the house safely.
