Special service

A community service of Prayer for Christian Unity will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Gilbert, at 10 a.m. Thursday. The theme is Unusual Kindness. The church will provide a luncheon. Various area denominations will be involved in the service.

Mission meal

West End Mission will serve a meal at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Gilbert, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Suicide prevention

Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church, Brodheadsville, is hosting a neighborhood meeting on Suicide Prevention from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday titled “We are Not Alone: What to Look for and Where to get Help.” The snow date is Feb. 6, 2020.

Resource tables available from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

The church is located at 150 Pilgrim Way, Brodheadsville, next to Western Pocono Community Library.

Storybook Theater

The Western Pocono Community Library is inviting the public is invited to attend StoryBook Theatre’s Rising Star Open Rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Come and support our fantastic group of young people and get a glimpse into the making of their upcoming performance of “Aladdin.”

CJERP meeting

The Chestnuthill-Jackson-Eldred-Ross-Polk Regional Comprehensive group will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Chestnuthill Township Municipal Building in Brodheadsville.

PVSD Board meets

The Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education is slated to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the District Office.

Chestnuthill Seniors

Adult coloring is the activity scheduled for Friday’s meeting of the Chestnuthill Seniors. Next Wednesday’s is Canasta time.

The light menu for Friday is egg salad, carrot sticks, mixed fruit, whole wheat roll and Jello. The regular menu includes baked fish Thermidor oven brown rice, Italian green beans, stewed tomatoes and mango.

Next Wednesday’s light lunch is listed as Italian antipasto, pea salad, diced pears, Jello, graham crackers. The regular fare menu calls for roast beef with gravy, mashed potatoes, banana, green beans with red peppers, and a whole grain dinner roll.

Chestnuthill Center attendees should call in their menu choice to 570-420-3735 or 570-242-6770 by 11 a.m. the day before.
