A Carbon County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following an incident at 11:05 a.m. Dec. 3, 2019.

State police at Hazleton said troopers were dispatched to an area along North Church Street in Hazle Township, Luzerne County, for a report of a pedestrian involved crash with the driver of the vehicle involved fleeing the scene.

The victim, a 32-year-old woman from Hazleton, provided a description of the fleeing vehicle including the registration plate. A short time later troopers received an unrelated report of a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner eastbound on Route 940.

The vehicle matched the description involved in the pedestrian incident.

A vehicle stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Yvonne Zukosky, 54, of Weatherly. It was determined that Zukosky was under the influence and was taken into custody. Charges were filed.
