State police at Frackville report on arrests

State police at Frackville reported on the following arrests made by troopers.

• On Jan. 9 at 10:18 p.m. troopers responded to Walnut Street in Middleport borough for an incident. As a result troopers arrested Janalene Grassa, 27, of New Philadelphia, for harassment - physical contact. She allegedly struck a 20-year-old female from Middleport in the head with a closed fist. Charges were filed.

• On Jan. 10 at 3:32 p.m. troopers were dispatched to the Walmart store in Hometown, Rush Township, for a report of a man who had just committed retail theft. The report indicated loss prevention personnel had detained the suspect.

Troopers said Alan Velvett, 26, of New York, New York, was checking out in the self checkout lane and attempted to leave the store without paying for an air mattress valued at $168. Velvett was arraigned before on-call District Judge James Ferrier, of Orwigsburg, on a retail theft charge. He failed to post the $5,000 straight cash bail imposed by Ferrier and was committed to the county prison in Pottsville.

• On Jan. 10 at 8:22 p.m. troopers were dispatched to Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township, for a welfare check. Troopers found Tony Amendolaro, 56, of Elmhurst, Township, Lackawanna County, operating a vehicle under the influence. He was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.

• Also on Jan. 10 about 10:43 p.m. a 23-year-old Ringtown man reported his mother received a text message from a 25-year-old woman from Elysburg, Northumberland County, which was in violation of a protection from abuse order issued out of Northumberland County court. Troopers said the defendant, who they declined to identify, will now face a charge of indirect criminal contempt in Schuylkill County Court.

• On Jan. 11 about 1:11 a.m. Kimbe Parliament-Dutill, 53, of Barnesville, pushed/punched a 51-year-old man, also from Barnesville, in the head and face area. The incident occurred along Barnesville Drive in Ryan Township.

Parliament-Dutill was charged with harassment - physical contact. Charges have been filed.
