Fern Ridge police report on crashes

State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers.

• On Jan. 6, about 2:31 a.m. a crash occurred along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Lidian Wang, 41, of Youngstown, Ohio, was driving a 2011 Toyota Highlander eastbound when he drove onto the right shoulder striking a road sign with the vehicle. The Highlander continued for about 20 feet before it rolled over onto its roof and came to rest.

Wang sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Geisinger Medical Center, Plains Township, Luzerne County, by Lake Harmony ambulance. Two passengers in the vehicle declined medical attention.

Wang was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.

• On Jan. 6 about 12:09 a.m. another crash was reported along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township. Marcelina L. Spencer, 22, of Flanders, New Jersey, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Express eastbound when she lost control. The vehicle went onto the right berm for about 20 feet. Spencer was not injured.

She was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported on Jan. 7 about 5:17 p.m. at the intersection of Route 115 and Weir Lake Road in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Kevin N. Im, 19, of Oakland Gardens, New York, was stopped for a stop sign while northbound on Weir Lake Road. Jade T. Hill, 23, of Effort, was traveling southbound on Route 115. Troopers said Im failed to yield the right-of-way to Hill and a collision occurred in the intersection.

Both drivers declined medical attention. A passenger with Im, Hyun S. Shin, 20, of Dix Hills, New York, was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg. Both vehicles had to be towed. Troopers cited Im for stop signs and yield signs.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by volunteers from the West End Fire Company and EMS.

The road was closed for an hour.

• A crash was reported on Jan. 7 at 7:10 p.m. along I80 in Foster Township, Luzerne County. Paul E. Busillo, 21, of Philadelphia, was driving a 2007 Mercedes-Benz westbound and going down a slight hill on a snow-covered road when he lost control of the vehicle. The car went onto the right berm and down a six foot embankment before striking a tree with the passenger side front.

Busillo was not injured. He was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
