Parishioners donate coats for local residents

Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church in Summit Hill held a coat giveaway on Sunday. Parishioners donated more than 100 new and slightly used coats that were available. Church officials said coats still remain. Church member Gail Christopher-Lazar said the coat event was a mission of the Sunday school. She said there are 12 groups in the church and each one is assigned a mission. The next mission for the Sunday school will be Vacation Bible School in the summer, which was attended by 75 youngsters last year. The church’s next project will be free soup on Super Bowl Sunday following the church service. Displaying the coats on Sunday are church members, from left, Judy Zehner, Gail Christopher-Lazar, church pastor the Rev. Ruth Ann Christopher and Mary Lazar. RON GOWER/SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS
