Lower Towamensing board approves positions for 2020

The board of supervisors of Lower Towamensing finished out their first meeting of the year Friday night, after tabling some business early last week due to the absence of one member.

The only supervisor who physically attended the last meeting — held Jan. 6 — was Brent Green. Connie Brown, who was elected to the board in November, participated via conference call, and Jay Mullikin, who was sick, was absent.

Between Green and Brown, the board was able to finalize its order for 2020. Green took the position of chairman of the board; Mullikin was appointed vice chairman.

But Green and Brown weren’t able to complete the reorganization meeting, leaving some positions, like the secretary-treasurer, solicitor, zoning officer and engineering firm unfilled.

The board remedied that issue Friday during a special meeting. It reappointed James Nanovic as the township solicitor, as well as Carbon Engineering as Lower Towamensing’s engineering firm, Duane Dellecker its zoning officer and Scott Bieber its sewage and wells enforcement officer.

It reappointed Christine Wentz as secretary-treasurer.

The supervisors will continue their regularly scheduled monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of the month in February. The meetings start at 7 p.m.
