Fern Ridge Police report on crashes

Fern Ridge state police investigated the following crashes:

• Volodymyr Ohorilko, 54, of Philadelphia, was injured when he crashed his car off Interstate 80 in Tunkhannock Township at 7:30 a.m. Dec. 14.

Police said the severity of his injuries are not known but he was transported by Pocono Mountain Regional Emergency Medical Services to the Geisinger-Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre.

Police said he was driving a 2017 Volvo that went off the road and into the woods. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

• Miguel A. Diaz, 43, of Allentown, was cited for following too closely after a collision at 5:24 p.m. Dec. 10 at the intersection of Route 115 and Green Mountain Drive in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was driving a 2017 GMC box truck southbound and was behind a 2006 Honda Accord operated by Melissa A. Blondo, 19, of Effort, when he failed to stop in time and the truck struck the rear-end of the Accord, which had stopped as the driver anticipated turning onto Green Mountain Road.

Police said Blondo refused transportation to the hospital. Diaz was not hurt.

• A 2008 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Richard D. Walters, 39, of needed to be towed from the scene of a one-vehicle crash at 5:46 p.m. Dec. 10 on South old Stage Road in Penn Forest Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving the vehicle westbound and was traveling too fast for conditions when he lost control of the vehicle. It left the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole with its front end.

Police said Walters was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.

• Victor Padilla-Gonzalez, 48, of Sciota, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 9:04 a.m. Dec. 5 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 2004 Mercedes-Benz westbound when he drove onto the area of the left lane fog line and hit slush and ice. The vehicle crossed from the left lane onto the right lane shoulder, where it struck a guardrail with its right front end.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

• No one was hurt in a one-vehicle crash at 4:18 p.m. Dec. 1 on Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township.

State police said David J. Perez, 38, of the Bronx, New York, was driving a 2007 Lincoln Navigator eastbound when he failed to drive at a safe speed for the conditions of the road. The vehicle spun, slid off the roadway and struck a tree with its rear end.

Police said he was cited a result of the crash.

• Angela R. Borealo, 31, of Easton, was cited for following too closely after a one-vehicle crash at 3:54 p.m. Nov. 27 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

She was driving a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

She was not injured.
