A look back: Dec. 31, 1992

There was good news yesterday for the Carbon County economy. Twenty-three jobs at the Tam Pallet Company in Mahoning Township, scheduled to close permanently today, have been saved.

Company President William McCullian said he has sold the 39-year-old plant located near Normal Square to Don Remmey, president of Remmey Wood Products, Southampton, and, as a result, there will be no interruption in the work schedule.

McCullian assumed ownership of Tam Pallet in 1984 from Frank A. Kelly, who started the business in 1953. On Dec. 17, plant manager Greg McCullian announced because of a shortage of raw materials operations would be suspended on Dec. 31.
