Local Roundup: Results from Dec. 10

Pleasant Valley and Tamaqua both picked up wins in boys and girls basketball on Tuesday.

In other action, the Lehighton and Panther Valley girls, as well as Northern Lehigh’s wrestling team, also posted victories.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Tamaqua-Shenandoah Vy.

Tamaqua jumped out to a big lead early and cruised to a 53-27 non-league victory over Shenandoah Valley.

Leading the Blue Raiders (2-1) were Lucas Gregoire with 13 points and Brayden Knoblauch with 11. Tamaqua, which led 28-0 after the first quarter, received scoring from 11 different players.

For Shenandoah, Evan Kosar finished with 10 points.

Tamaqua also prevailed in the JV contest, 45-38.

PM East-Pleasant Valley

Pleasant Valley used a big second quarter to help cruise past Pocono Mountain East, 60-37, in an Eastern Pennyslvania Conference contest.

Shelby Joyner scored all nine of his points during a 15-1 period that gave the Bears (1-1; 1-0) the lead for good.

PV’s Marcus Arce and Joel Contreras both finished with 10 points, while the Cardinals’ James Dervisevic led all scorers with 11.

POCONO MTN. EAST

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Shenandoah Vy.-Tamaqua

Tamaqua scored early and often to take down Shenandoah Valley in non-league action, 56-20.

Emma Kuczynski scored 21 points, pulled down 13 rebounds and added eight assists to lead the Blue Raiders (3-0).

The winners, who jumped out to a 16-2 lead, also received 14 points from Emily Titus.

For Shenandoah, Victoria Donovan finished with a team-high 14 points.

Tamaqua also won the JV contest, 50-15, behind 20 points from Serena Jones.

Pleasant Valley-PM East

Pleasant Valley outlasted Pocono Mountain East for a 48-42 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win.

The Bears (2-0) were led in scoring by Cameron Caffrey, who finished with 11 points, while Alyssa Wagner chipped in with eight.

For the Cardinals, Zoe Cruz scored a game-high 15 points.

Panther Valley raced to an early lead and pulled away from Schuylkill Haven for a 61-16 non-league victory.

The Panthers (1-2) received a game-high 24 points from Erika Dubosky, while teammate Megan Pascoe added 15.

PV, which opened up a 24-4 advantage after the first quarter, also received 12 points from Sera Robin.

Lehighton rolled to a 59-18 non-league victory over Lincoln Leadership Academy.

The Indians, who built a 26-point lead by halftime, received a game-high 19 points from Emily Miller, while Aaliyah Fisher finished with nine.

The victory improved Lehighton’s record to 2-1.

The Colts’ Xavier Ocasio posted a game-high 22 points.

8TH GRADE

Lehighton-Panther Valley

Panther Valley got the best of Lehighton for a 55-22 victory.

Stephen Hood paced the Panthers with 22 points, while Chase Weaver chipped in with 18.

Joe Roth netted an Indians’ high of eight points.

Lehighton cruised to a 37-11 win over Panther Valley.
