Man charged with assaulting girlfriend

A Palmerton man has been charged with assaulting his girlfriend during an argument.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by patrolman Brian Stern of the Palmerton Police Department:

At 12:53 a.m. Nov. 30, Stern was dispatched to the 800 block of Mauch Chunk Road for a 911 hangup call.

Stern said the victim was hysterically crying and said that her boyfriend, Travis Husar, 31, was intoxicated and assaulted her.

The victim had a large golf ball-sized lump on the right side of her head, and blood on her right cheek, and right side of her chest.

She said she was in her bedroom sleeping and was awakened by Husar yelling at her.

When she told him to leave, she said Husar grabbed her and slammed her head into the kitchen cabinet.

She said he left the house when she called 911.

Husar was taken into custody a short time later by state police at Lehighton in Penn Forest Township.

Husar faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.

He is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 bail, 10 percent, and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton.
